Maternity Session at Vácrátót Botanical Garden

Ági

I photographed Ági and Matyi’s wedding. And now here we were, a couple of years later, standing in the dappled shade of Vácrátót Botanical Garden while Matyi held his hands around Ági’s bump and tried very hard to look calm about the whole thing.

That’s the thing about maternity sessions. They’re not about performing. They’re not about finding the perfect angle or getting the composition right. It is about this exact moment in your life, the one that’s already moving faster than you want it to.

Vácrátót is one of those places that does a lot of the work for you. The old estate ruins, the pergola dripping with vines, the light coming through pine branches in the late afternoon. It’s a setting that asks nothing of you except to just be there.

Ági wore her floral dress, and Matyi wore that slightly nervous but proud expression partners get when they’re a few weeks out from becoming parents. We wandered. We talked, and we didn’t rush.

The photo of Ági’s silhouette against the moss-covered stone is one of my favourites from the whole session. Just the curve of the dress and the texture of the wall, and that particular kind of quiet that comes before something big.

These sessions are short, and they go quickly. A couple of hours in a good location with someone you trust, and suddenly you have something you’ll look at for the rest of your life.

If you’re expecting to do something like this, I’d love to hear from you. I work across Hungary and the UK, and I bring the same calm, unhurried approach to every session.

Thinking about

a Maternity or Family Session?

Hi, I’m Eszter, a Bristol family photographer who works across the UK and Europe. I’ve been photographing people through the big life moments since the beginning, and I can tell you that the ones who get the most out of a session are the ones who just show up and let things unfold.

You don’t need a shot list. You don’t need to have practised your poses; you need a location with good light, comfortable shoes, and maybe an hour away from your phone.

I’ll handle the rest. If you’d like to talk about booking a maternity session, get in touch here.
