In-Home Newborn Studio Session
Kendra
Adri and Gábor originally booked me for a maternity session. Then Kendra had other plans.
She arrived early, as first babies sometimes do, and suddenly there was no maternity shoot, no gentle build-up, no easing into the idea of being photographed as a family of three. Just a phone call, a few days of newborn fog, and then me turning up at their home with a car full of studio equipment.
I already knew them. I’d photographed their wedding, so walking back through their door felt easy in the way it only does when you’ve already spent a full day together. That helps. Especially when a baby is 4 days old, and nobody has slept properly, and the whole world still feels slightly unreal.
We kept Kendra in her own clothes and her own space. A white onesie with tiny pink dots. A soft lace headband. A dusty pink flower that looked like it had been made for her. The kind of outfit that feels chosen, not costume.

Gábor held her like he’d been doing it for years. There’s a shot of him lifting her to his face, nose to nose, her little fists still half-curled in the air. And another where she’s tucked against his chest and he’s got his eyes closed, just breathing her in. I didn’t ask for either of those. They just happened.

We got the details, too, because those are the ones that catch people off guard later. The feet are impossibly small. The hands barely open. The pearl earring smaller than a grain of rice.

An in-home newborn studio session works because it gives you the softness and simplicity of a studio setup without taking the baby out of their own environment. At 4 days old, the baby is very new. Familiar smells, familiar sounds — it all matters more than people expect.
And it means the session moves at whatever pace the baby needs. Which, 4 days in, was exactly as slow as it needed to be.

Thinking about
An in-home newborn studio session?
Hi, I’m Eszter, a Bristol newborn photographer, and I’m available to travel.
I photograph newborns in a calm, unhurried way so you can settle into the session without feeling like you need to perform or have everything together. Because 4 days in, nobody does. And that’s exactly as it should be.
An in-home session means I come to you. I bring the studio lighting, you bring the baby, and whatever feels normal for your home. We work around nap times, feeding times and whatever else the day decides to throw at us. The photos end up feeling like your life, because they are.
If that sounds right for where you are, I’d love to hear from you.
