A Marvel-Loving Danube Wedding at Dunai Csónakház, Budapest
Niki & Ricsi
Ricsi cannot hold a straight face. You will see it in nearly every frame, that half-second before a laugh, the grin he can’t quite stop. He and Niki got married at Dunai Csónakház, an old boathouse on a quiet arm of the Danube in Pesterzsébet, about 10 km south of the centre of Budapest. If you are looking for a Budapest wedding photographer for a day that runs on fun and real emotion in roughly equal measure, this one is for you.
A Morning With the Girls
Niki wanted her morning to be about her people. So she gave it to her bridesmaids, and the whole getting-ready stretch filled up with pink robes, one white one for her, and a lot of laughing.
It set the tone for the entire day. You can feel the ease in it. That is usually where the best of a morning getting ready lives, in the no-pressure hour before anyone has to be anywhere.
The dress hung from the rafters under a row of glowing bulbs. Quiet, just before the noise.
Vows on the Jetty
The ceremony happened where this venue does it best. Out on the willow-fringed jetty, over the water, with soft Danube light moving under everyone’s feet.
Niki read her vows. Ricsi, who cannot hold a straight face, lost it completely, wiping his eyes while she carried on reading. A guest a few rows back was dabbing at hers too. Then the kiss, the applause, and back to the grinning.
This is the kind of setting that does half the work for you. Reeds, willow, the river. Nothing forced, nothing rushed.
Marvel, Biscuits and a Very Wild Dancefloor
These two love Marvel, and they ran with it. The seating chart sorted everyone under Black Panther, Spider-Man, Iron Man and the rest of the line-up. Framed heroes sat between the candles and greenery on every table. The favours were iced biscuits shaped like Xbox controllers, with Niki and Ricsi piped across the front.
Then the evening came loose. A sparkler send-off down a candlelit path, shirts coming undone, someone down on the floor mid-move. The dancefloor was wild. That is the only honest word for it.
A Budapest wedding photographer sees plenty of polished riverside light. Niki and Ricsi gave me the polished light and the mess, and I will take both every time.

Thinking about
Your wedding at Dunai Csónakház?
Hi, I’m Eszter, a Bristol wedding photographer originally from Hungary. Niki and Ricsi came into their day knowing exactly what they wanted aesthetically, and the relief of being understood by someone who got it without needing it explained showed on their faces all day.
That is what the right photographer does. It takes the pressure off the bit where you have to defend your style to someone who doesn’t quite see it.
You don’t need a Pinterest board, a polished plan, or a brief to send me. You just need your people, the venue, and someone who lets the day happen. I’ll handle the rest. Tell me what you’re planning through the contact form. I shoot weddings in Budapest, Bristol, and across Europe, and I read every enquiry myself.
