A Scottish Wedding Celebration at Folly Farm Centre, Bristol
Alison & Hamish
Some weddings just have that kind of warmth that not even the rain can touch. Alison and Hamish’s day at Folly Farm Centre was exactly that: calm, romantic, and completely full of heart. The kind of day where you don’t even notice the weather because everything feels right anyway.
Outside, the rain rolled softly across the fields. Inside, the barn was glowing: fairy lights, wildflowers, and red bunting hanging from the beams. It felt homely and full of life, like stepping straight into the middle of a love story already in motion.
Their ceremony was packed with meaning: handfasting, a Scottish ring-warming, and the sharing of the Quaich, each moment tying their story together. When Alison walked in, smiling in her beautiful tea-length dress and vintage birdcage veil, the room went quiet. And then there was Hamish, eyes full of tears and love. You could feel it ripple through everyone there.
Dancing Through the Rain
We didn’t get much time for portraits: about twenty minutes, just enough for them to laugh, hold each other close, and soak up the moment before the sky opened again. We met up another day for more photos, and guess what? It rained again. But honestly, that felt so perfectly them. Two people who find joy no matter what the sky’s doing.
The speeches were beautiful, full of laughter and quiet tears. And then came the dancing, the best part. Dance is how Alison and Hamish met, and seeing them move together again felt like watching their story unfold all over. They even taught their guests a few steps, which was as fun and chaotic as it sounds.
By the end of the night, the floor was full, hearts were full, and so was my camera. The rain didn’t steal a single thing, it only made their day feel more alive. Because sometimes, love looks its best when it’s a little messy, a little wet, and completely real.
