Studio Business Portraits, Bristol

Rosie

Most people who book a studio portrait session don’t lead with “I need a LinkedIn photo.” That’s the practical reason. The acceptable one. The real reason tends to be something quieter and a bit harder to say out loud.

Rosie said it anyway.

She was about to move to London for a placement year, a new city, on her own, and she wanted to mark it. Not just with a headshot. With something that said“This is who I am right now. She wrote in her questionnaire that she wanted to do it “to own my worth and feel confident. Captured in a photo.”

That’s the best brief I’ve received for a business portrait session in Bristol.

She warned me she’d probably be awkward. Most people say this, and most people are wrong. The awkwardness tends to last about 15 minutes. After that, whoever you actually are starts turning up.

Rosie came with 2 outfits. The first was a white tailored set, composed and forward-facing, ready for whatever London would ask of her. That’s the LinkedIn version. Then she changed, and the other Rosie showed up. The one who goes to Cornwall every summer and body surfs in cold water because it’s invigorating, and the one who dances around the house when nobody’s watching. The one her best friend called her soul sister, who once told her: the confidence was always there. It had just been dormant for a while.

Both of them are in these photos. I think that’s the point.

She left with the headshot. She also left with a few that aren’t for professional use at all. Those might be the ones she keeps longest.

Thinking about

Studio portraits at my Bristol studio?

Hi, I’m Eszter, a Bristol portrait photographer and brand photographer. Rosie arrived, saying she’d probably be awkward. By the time we’d done the first outfit change, she was laughing properly, and the camera had stopped feeling like a thing she needed to manage.

Most people I work with say some version of that afterwards. You don’t need to know how to pose, have a clear idea of what you want, or feel ready. You just need a reason, even a quiet one. I’ll handle the rest. Fill in the enquiry form and tell me a little about yourself.
