Model Portfolio Portraits at Home
Bath
Most people assume you need a studio to get portfolio shots worth sending to an agency. You don’t. A white wall and good light will do the job, and sometimes they’ll do it better.
This session was a model agency application shoot, and we kept it exactly that simple. No backdrops, no hired space, no complicated setup. Just a Bath living room, a white wall, and the kind of light that makes a clean portrait look effortless. As a portrait photographer working across Bath and Bristol, these are often my favourite sessions to shoot.

What the Brief Was
Agency digitals have one job: show the model clearly, with no distraction. That means minimal styling, full-length and bust shots, and images that demonstrate range without relying on a concept to carry them.
What made this session different was that she’s also a ballet dancer. So alongside the clean full-length shots and the closer portraits, we let a little of that in. The movement shot, bare feet, arm extended, body angled against the wall, is the one that stops you mid-scroll. It’s not a posed portrait and it’s not a dance photo. It sits somewhere between the two and that’s exactly where it should be.

Colour and Black and White
The colour edits show skin tone, hair colour, and the detail in the styling. The black and white edits strip all of that away and leave you with shape, posture, and expression. Both have a purpose in a portfolio and both are included here.
If you’re thinking about personal brand portraits or something more commercial, the approach is the same. We work with what you already have and make it look deliberate.

Thinking about
a Portrait Session in Bath?
Hi, I’m Eszter, a Bristol portrait photographer who also covers Bath and the surrounding area. She came to the session not entirely sure what to expect, and within the first half hour we had found a rhythm. That’s how most sessions go. The nerves are real, and then they’re not.
You don’t need a studio, a stylist, or a detailed shot list. You need a few hours, a clear idea of what the images are for, and someone who knows how to work the light in whatever space you’re in. I’ll handle the rest.
If you’re putting together a portfolio for an agency application, updating your headshots, or just want portraits that feel like you rather than a set of stock photos, I’d love to hear what you’re planning. Fill in the enquiry form and tell me a bit about the session you have in mind.
